“And while Cinderella and her prince did live happily ever after, the point gentlemen is that they lived”

This is one of my favourite movies of all times. It belongs with the classics having of course to do with the classic tale of Cinderella; the unfortunate orphan who has to live with the unfeeling stepmother and the evil stepsisters, but eventually rules over Prince Charming’s heart. everAfter

The difference with this specific version that makes it so special is the touch of reality. Da Vinci’s presence instead of the fairy godmother and his painting, the comments about divorce in the 16th century, chocolate and Utopia are what makes it so believable. The leading characters are so complete and the supporting characters are portrayed in such detail. It goes without saying that the actors and the production are excellent. The film is pure joy to watch. Cinderella

Another matter that makes it so appealing to me is that it describes a modern woman really. Danielle is a woman that is going to fight for her cause (to save her servant). She is a very hard worker that has learnt to stand on her own two feet and she doesn’t need saving, the prince arrives a minute too late. Instead she is the one that has saved him carrying him on her shoulders and it is her that is going to explain to him his position in the world. What better fairy tale to watch that is not a fairy tale really?

So if I had a daughter or if I had to babysit my nieces I would make them hot chocolate and sit tight with them on the couch watching this beautiful tale being told in these bright colours and listening to this brilliant song.
